Mark Bullets for Accuracy Records

When reloading rifle bullets I find it helpful to mark the bullets with a Sharpie so I can identify loads that I intend to test for accuracy. I write a number on the bullet near the tip that corresponds to a load in my journal. I then mark a target with the same bullet number, so when return home I can see which load preformed best. This is especially useful when I have many different combinations I intend to test.

Make Your Own 3-D Turkey Target

Three-dimensional turkey targets are great shooting-practice tools for bowhunters. Problem is they're expensive. To make your own, take your oldest turkey decoy and fill it with expanding insulation foam. After the foam dries, place it in front of your block and start practicing.

A SCUBA Solution to Foggy Scopes

To make sure your scope does not fog up due to temperature change, stop by your local outdoor sports shop and purchase a small bottle of SCUBA mask anti-fogger. Put a couple of drops on each scope lens and then wipe the lenses clean. You will never get fog on your lens, even if you breathe lightly on it on the coldest morning.

Reader Tip of the Day: Sight In Your Gun On Campaign Signs

I like to use old political signs for my portable shooting targets (the metal, H-shaped stands are best because they’re easy to put in the ground, and sturdier than the others). Simply tape your target to the sign and place at whatever distance you like. One or two will last all day. They're free, transportable, and easily disposed of.
