Chad Love: If McCain Loses ...

As we get closer to election day  and the dismal  poll numbers keep rolling in for the McCain-Palin camp, it  might be time to start looking past the election. Hollywood certainly is.

From hollywoodreporter.com :
As  campaign  managers for Sarah Palin plot last-minute tactics to get her  elected,  Hollywood bigwigs are convening strategy sessions of their own.  Their goal:  finding the ideal on-air vehicle for the vp candidate if and  when she exits  politics.

Love her or hate   her -- there doesn't seem to be much middle ground with Palin -- the   44-year-old hockey mom has captured the public imagination in a way no   politician has since, well, Barack  Obama.

But as  more and more polls cast doubt on the  McCain-Palin ticket, producers and  agents across the entertainment world  are discussing possibilities for  capitalizing on her fame, ranging from  an Oprah-style syndicated talk show to  a Sean Hannity-like perch in  cable news or on  radio.

So  here's an  idle thought: In the long run would it actually be better for  us if McCain lost? Think about it, what's the favorite pastime of  millions of American lemmings, I mean citizens? That's right, killing  brain cells in front of a TV. Regardless of questions concerning her  qualifications for VP, you  can't deny she's tailor-made for television.  As a vehicle for getting the hunting/shooting cause into the national  dialogue where it  belongs, this potentially beats the hell out of her current candidacy.

Why? Because a McCain-Palin administration would be nothing like a Bush-Cheney administration. Despite the campaign rhetoric, Sarah Palin's role is going to revert right back to to what the VP's was before Dick Cheney entered the office: ribbon-cuttings and attending the funerals of third-world potentates. And really, what good is that going to do us?

But a Palin talk show? Priceless. It has the potential  to project a pro-hunting, pro-firearms image to millions of people. So  let's say for the sake of argument that McCain loses and Palin gets snatched up by a network. You are now the executive producer of her forthcoming  show. What will be the format and what will be the topics? How would you  present Palin to the world?

A man who believes himself so clever that he spews vulgarities in a foreign tongue shouldn't be talking about hate and venom in others, johnl.

If you represent what Sally Lou Palin calls the "pro-America" part of the USA, I am glad I live elsewhere.

Bis zum nachsten Mal, Johan.

johnl

Gman,
Nice try.
You call me a dunderhead, I call you a ....head.
I didn't bring up the hate and venom bit, I was just pointing out the "projection" involved.
Her name is Governor Sarah Louise Palin. I refer to your favorite as BHO, not what you guys object to some others doing with his name. So, how's that square with what you do with hers?
Sorry, don't know what you said at the end. I took Latin in school, and while my grandparents came from the "old country", over the years only a few things stuck with me.
What part of the USA do you live, or represent?

johnl

Gman,
After further review,
Spew?
Vulgarities?
Foreign tongue?
Methinks perhaps I've misunderestimated you Gman.

If Sarah loses, she won't be out of the picture. She'll be back stronger after a few years of Barako, when America has had a rude awakening. If I'm wrong on this,It'll be forty years in the desert.

I predict that if obama wins, NRA membership will double in the next 3 months.

Palin is tough. Remember during the primaries, Hillary cried when she wasn't doing so well--and Hillary wasn't subject to the 24x7 attack machine of Obama and his media allies.

Haha

So that is one of the qualifications for being President?

If you don't cry, you're fit for service?

Not surprising since "Seeing Russia" is now international experience...

She is a joke.

I'm in school right now

To Johnl,
The scary fact is that public schools wouldn't really do anything to change or make up mind. The school i go to, my history teacher tells us every day to keep our political comments to ourself. He won't teach us about any of the measures or races to vote on. And then people whine that america is becoming less-informed. DUH! Every day i hear kids talking about how they don't want mccain and how obama is the best. So i ask them why. I have gotten responses like "mccain looks dumb, like someone who couldn't run the country" or "the fact that he picked Palin for VP is reason enough to vote for obama" and i get alot of "i don't know(s)". The fact is that kids want to vote for obama but they can't tell why. It makes me wonder if adults are the same way. Kids are only voting based on what their parents are voting for and alot of parents aren't teaching their kids why to vote for that particular person.
We had a mock election in my school yesterday (and nation-wide i guess) and obama won by 30 percent! That makes no sense at all! Kids just don't know how to think independantly and schools aren't helping the matter.

To: "In school"
At least your teacher isn't trying to push his opinions on you, one way or the other, and your grades don't depend on echoing his politics.
You seem to be inquisitive enough to explore as many sides of an issue as you can, then make up your own mind. Keep it up.
As far as many adults being like kids in making choices, you are absolutely correct. They let someone else make their choices.

Now, get out and go hunting this weekend. It's amazing how a day outdoors will clear all the cobwebs out.

Palin is more qualified than Obama. Obama has NO executive experience, he began running for president after only 140 days in the US Senate, he praised terrorist PLO spokesperson, he attended church for twenty years with racist pastor; he hung with domestic terrorist Ayers; his campaign finance committee man Tony Rezko was indicted on charges he solicited kickbacks from companies seeking state pension business under his friend Gov. Blagojevich. Obama has authored no significant reform or legislation in the US Senate, because he was there such a short time.

Obama gets a free ride from the media, otherwise McCain would win in a landslide. For example, the LA times refuses to release the video of Obama praising the PLO leader. If it were McCain or Palin, it would be shown 24x7.

Obama is inexperienced. We live in a dangerous world. We need a real leader. Obama is a big liberal gun banner.

FYI:
Apparently, the LA Times is in possession of a video that features Barack Hussein Obama at at party.
The occasion was a going-away party for a member of the Palistine Liberation Organization, who was going home. In the video, BHO sings a rap song, where he praises jihadists, hopes Israel is erased from the map and calls for eliminating Jews. The Times has admitted having the video, but won't release it because of its effect in some key states.

I find this very distressing, especially in light of Sen. Biden's statement that BHO would be tested shortly after taking control, and Americans would not like the response. Also, I have Jewish friends and certainly don't want to see them harmed.
Apparently, BHO wants to bring the world back to the 1930's, and we know how that ended.

Currently, there are 40 Right-to-Carry states (that's 40 out of 50 states). Thirty-six have “shall issue” laws, requiring that carry permits be issued to applicants who meet uniform standards established by the state legislature. Three have fairly-administered discretionary-issue carry permit systems. One, Vermont, respects the right to carry without a permit. Alaska, one of the “shall issue” states, has its permit system for the purpose of permit-reciprocity with other states, and also adopted a no-permit-required law in 2003.

However, Obama supports a ban on right to carry.

It sure is funny that in every rally of obama's you see almost all blacks there in the audience and in McCain's rallys you see both white and blacks. Now tell me who is running a racist campain?? Hey any news on when obama will produce his birth certificate?? Maybe after the campain?? I can't wait to see him possibly win the election only to be disqualified when the surpreme court asks for his birth certificate and the only thing he produces is that certificate of natural birth!!!!

During the 1990s, while he served as chairman of the International Republican Institute (IRI), McCain distributed several grants to the Palestinian research center co-founded by Khalidi, including one worth half a million dollars.

A 1998 tax filing for the McCain-led group shows a $448,873 grant to Khalidi's Center for Palestine Research and Studies for work in the West Bank.

The relationship extends back as far as 1993, when John McCain joined IRI as chairman in January. Foreign Affairs noted in September of that year that IRI had helped fund several extensive studies in Palestine run by Khalidi's group, including over 30 public opinion polls and a study of "sociopolitical attitudes."

As for the rumors Yooper just posted, here's the original LA Times story on Obama and Khalidi.

Thank you Gman, I didn't see that before. Now, if he promises a tough war on terrorism, competent judicial appointments and to keep us out of depression, I might vote for him! Oops! Shouldn't he be going to jail with Ted Stevens? I believe that Tony Resko bought him his house.

...and Sally Lou billed the state of Alaska for staying at her house.

They all play games, Yooper, games I don't find it worth my while to play. I'll be glad when this is done one way or t'other, and I can move on to sighting in and getting ready for opening day of NY southern zone rifle season.

12 and counting.

Reno

I find Obama's tone and demeanor during his large allotment's of television time to be rather condenscending. It appears, to me at least, that he figure's himself a better candidate because he is better than me. That's just the vibe I get. He is a wonderful public speaker, and manages to word his thoughts and ramblings well. McCain on the other hand is not such a good speaker. He fumbles occasionally when he speaks, hesitates during thoughts. When you compare the two side by side, it is no shocker that the un-informed would side with Obama. People just look deep enough into it I feel.

Gman:
I'm in southern zone NY also, you should already be sighted in and prepared. Quit slacking and hop to it. It isn't that far away :)

Gman

I have plans to do that Friday, Reno. I live out of state but hunt on old family land, so have to get over there when I can. It takes planning these days.

YooperJack

Gman,Reno:
What's the significance of Southern New York? Does that state have separate seasons for northernand southern zones? Also, do you notice a significant difference in deer populations in those areas?
YooperJack

Gman

Yeah, Yooper, the northern zone is mainly the Adirondacks and St Lawrence Valley, and their season starts earlier (Oct 18 this year thru Dec 7). I presume the 'dacks season lasts longer because there is less hunting pressure.

In general, deer harvests in NY are very high in western and central NY and lower in the Catskills and 'dacks; fairly good in areas of the Hudson Valley where there is still a lot of agriculture.

The land we hunt is all state-owned wilderness, very hard mountain hunting, and if you even SEE a deer every other year, you're getting somewhere. But I did see Henry Hudson and his men playing ninepins once.

Reno

Yes, in Central New York the harvest is considerably higher than the adirondacks. I hunt most of October with bow in Northern Zone for black bear, I see more bear than I do deer, and I don't see many all that many bear. During my season at home, I average 4-5 deer a year easily and more, tags permitting. It's just a lot easier area to hunt.

Huntergatherer

Would it be better for us if McCain lost? I didn't think it would be better for us if he won. Considering Palin and the GOP's anti environment history, I have to wonder how much damage will be done to my favorite hunting and fishing areas is the GOP gets in to continue the eight years of destruction we have witnessed.
