Discussion Topic: Corzine Dismisses Bear Problem, Denies Hunt

From the New Jersey Herald:

While he called it a "real and present issue," Gov. Jon Corzine said Friday there probably won't be a change in the state policy that prohibits a black bear hunt.

Corzine said the number of black bears was only a problem "if you want to call it that . . . .

A lot of the problem is perception," he said. "There are less intrusions" and most complaints are simply sightings and confined to a small part of
the state.

Figures released last month, however, showed the number of serious incidents involving bears were about double this year than what they were last year.

Now that we understand that state’s black bear population is only a problem “if you want to call it that,” the question is: Do you want to call it that? And what do you want to call Gov. Corzine?

yes it is a problem. an corzine is an idiot. thank goodness im going to school in ohio. it's much nicer out here.

"Former Governor Corzine" would be a good title. Unfortunately this Wall St Tycoon Democrat has no regard for We the People unless they either have more money, fame, power than he or are numbly echoeing the party line.

As I have said before, New Jersey will not allow a bear hunt until they have at least one fatal human attack; IF that attack happens to be in the small area Corzine and friends care about.

I'm in school right now

That govenor is an idiot. If you want to know how much of a problem black bears are in NJ, check out the monster quest on the history channel that examines it. There are some seriously freaked out people over there.

what a foookin moron he is. i really do think liberalism is a mental disease

Blue Ox

I'd like to call him 'bear bait'.

having a bit of an inside view of nj politics this stupidity from corzine is no surprise whatsoever. he has effectively ruined the state with his half assed tax policies. if you want a real treat e-mail the state division of fish and game and ask a question about wildlife populations or programs. the general response shows a total lack of giving a #[email protected]%. coincidently there have been bear sightings in every county of new jersey, which is quite a feat as the population density of this state qualifies the entire state to be called metropolitan areas. my prediction is that eventually someone will be eaten, but it the govt. will decide it wasnt the bear's fault and still do nothing.

I agree with the above comments and more so.The governor has his head up his @ss, he is so kissy faced with the anti hunting/gun banning left that he will not be happy until there is a total ban on hunting in the state, which will happen sooner if Obama is elected. these so called hunter that say they are going to vote for Obama, say that he will not take away their guns, but he will let others do it for him. Corizine is a prime example, a corupt ass that will break every law he can to get what he wants. Just look at his record, and the records of his cronies. If they are not in jail they are under investigation. He wants to "tighten up" the gun regulations, making it even harder for people in N.J. to purchase firearms. These are the Obama supporters. Anyone voting for him is voting for them.

"Foooking moron," "bear bait," "Idiot" (X2), "Former Governor Corzine."

All are worthy and great suggestions.

And yes, liberalism is a mental disease. With it comes lack of rational thought, a total dependence on Big Brother, a complete lack of responsibility, and an absolute inability to tell the truth about these aforementioned symptoms of liberalism. It takes cold, hard, empirical evidence to prove that people are stricken with the disease, but by that time, and in order to gain such evidence, they have to be voted into office.
Such is our dilema...but, even at that, the truth is only recognized by those not stricken with liberalism, so there we are back at square 1.

And this same attitude displayed toward bears in NJ by Corzine thrives in liberals and greenies all over the nation with respect to wolves in the mountain west states.

They all want wolves to be in two places at once: in those mountains and in the protected list of the Federal Endangered Species Act.

This last week, my Uncle returned from a hunting trip in North-Central Idaho (a place he had been several years previously and seen more elk and deer than he could count, and had no trouble filling his tags, as did his 5 hunting partners) and said the only signs of wildlife were the bone-piles of old wolf kills, and from animals that could fly or climb trees to escape them. He saw absolutely no deer or elk tracks or even old droppings. Thats None, Zero, Nada, Zilch. The only life forms larger than a raccoon he saw were a single bear and a single deer (which the bear had just killed).

What people fail to realize/admit is that wolves do in fact decimate game populations. They are like a wildfire: they spread outward, consuming all before them, and behind them they leave nothing but barren, dead, wasteland (in terms of the forest fauna that is).

And now it is reported that states other than Montana, Idaho and Wyoming now have wolves, and in some cases breeding pairs: Washington, Oregon, Utah, Nevada, Colorado all have wolves. So begins the wildfire effect.

Really, I think that that is precisely the result that the liberal greenies want. They want human hunting to be obsolete, and unsustainable, because of the simple fact that wolves will have decimated game populations to the point where there aren't enough deer or elk left to hunt.

Personally, I think names like "Foooking moron," "bear bait," and "Idiot" apply perfectly to not only Corzine, but any and all who believe as he does that liberalism is the way and that green/animal-rights is the correct environmental stance.

My question to them is this:
If these animals (bears and wolves) have rights, does it not follow that they must have them for a reason? If this is true, then what is that reason? If, like they claim, these animals have "feelings" and "thoughts" then why don't they themselves go and try to convince the bears and wolves to stop over-populating, to stop decimating other game populations, and to start avoiding contact with humanity? I would like to see them try...they'd probably get a few bites taken out of them, which is the only thing that seems to have any effect on their catatonic state of mind.

And what about the simple fact that wolves are truly not an "endangered species?" It is true: There are more wolves in the Canada and Alaska (not even counting the 3,000-odd in the Lower 48) than there are people in the state of Wyoming, which has a total population of 522,830 as of a 2008 census. How then are the wolves, which are of the same scientific species (canis lupus) and which now roam an expanse of territory the size of the contiguous Lower 48, an endangered species? Sorry folks, wolves technically do not qualify as endangered species according to the actual verbiage of the ESA (Look that one up, and see for yourselves). So to believe they are, and to treat them as such is preposterous, and irresponsible.

In my opinion, we need to seriously cut back on the number of wolves in the west, and on the number of bears in the east. And the only good way to do that is to hunt them. Its the smart way too: it brings in $$$ from license and tag sales, it keeps hunters happy (allows them to take an active part in controlling the predators that feed on game species) and it pisses off the liberal greenies!

Let the fur fly!

Ed Koch, former Mayor extrodinaire of NYC once opined that a liberal is a conservative who hasn't been mugged yet. Hizzoner might agree that an Animal Rights Activist is a hunt supporter who hasn't lost a child or other family member to a bear yet!

Gov. Corzine is a self centered know it all Idiot! Just like that other Idiot Billionare Mayor Bloomberg from New York City.

This country is in sad shape when you can Buy an election like Corzine and Bloomberg have done.

All of the research done by New Jersey's conservation Dept was disregarded as if this Billionare knows anything about the states wildlife. Why even have a conservation Dept if you don't listen to their research and finding? Maybe he is not hearing this as PETA is screaming in both of his ears about the little Cuddly Teddy bears and how they have their rights.

The other night on the History channel they had a show that included the PROBLEM bears in New Jersey and how dangerous a situation it has become.

The poor Scared Woman on the show had multiple bears walking in her yard everyday right where her small children where playing. Yes and If you saw the show and looked close she had a fore sale sign on her front lawn.

Maybe Corzine will buy the house, that being very unlikely and let his Family see what a problem he has created! Walking out of your front or back door carrying pepper spray?

Someone in New Jersey should file a Class action suit against him and his admiistration and make them responsible if some one gets killed as Its only matter of time before this happens.

Maybe we can move New Jersey and attach it to California and then the PETA Idiots can run both.

RJ

Funny(in the bizzare sense) no one is defending this idiot! I was once a resident of the garden state, So I too have a hands on expreince regarding the coruption and shanigans. I mentioned the bear issue and the idiot governor to a old jersey friend of mine, and did it start him on a anti-corizine rant!Unfortanately the bear issue is only a small part of the problem, He is stealing money from the teacher's pention fund, breaking tax laws regarding toll revenues, and he is Obama's finacial adviser! If Obama is elected this idiot will be in his cabinet!
Remember you are not just electing a president, but also his cabinet- defense through interior, a very scary thought!
