Discussion Topic: On Anti-Hunting Girlfriends

So guys, you got any advice for this poor fella:

From the syndicated advice column “Ask Amy,” as seen in the Chicago Tribune:

Dear Amy: My girlfriend and I have been together for two years. This month she gave me an ultimatum: I give up hunting, or she leaves.

Every year, my best friend and I spend the opening weekend of deer season in a cabin we built on his family's land. It is the only weekend I hunt, and I look forward to it every year. . . .

My girlfriend told me this year that she doesn't want to be with someone who could kill a deer. I tried to explain that hunting helps control deer population[s] . . . [and] is a better way of acquiring meat than buying beef slaughtered in an industrial farm and shipped across the country.

I went hunting this year against her wishes and killed a buck. She wouldn't talk to me for three days. Now she says if I don't promise to give up the sport, she will leave me. . . .

What should I do?

Perfectly understood Yooper,

I just wouldn't advise it as a revenge tactic, which is how it came off when the other Tommy posted it.

At all times we men should be looking for "some", or "true love", if unmarried.
I understand where you are coming from though. I am happily married.
Life is long, lonesome and lacking spice without the ladies ain't it?

For the record, my wife shoots, all my guns, but doesn't want to hunt. She likes the deer venison alot, and even does the majority of the grinding!!!!! The sausage, brat and ground venison I mean.
She also likes to have the house to herself and the little girl every waking second of deer season. And she gets it!

Guys - its real simple!

Find the woman that either shares your interests or doesn't have a problem wth them.
If she doesn't meet the above criteria - keep looking.

LIFE IS TOO SHORT.

All the "poon" in the world couldn't keep me outta the woods come deer season.

Truthfully, If I had to choose?????LOL!!!!!!?!?!?!!?!?!
And I am only 34, happily married and my wife still has the body I met 10 years ago.

Good God I love to hunt whitetails!!!!!

My deer season ended yesterday. But my card was full, for the first time, on November 25th.
I have not hunted since that day. I thought of getting an extra doe tag, which we could get for the first time in Chatham County, NC this year - but I was worried Mr. McNasty would finally step out!!
I already took 4 does this year, (we can only take 2 bucks a season in the central NC season), and I know it would have been my luck that large, wide antlers would have stepped out. I support the 2 buck deal, but I couldn't find it in myself to kill another doe.

My freezer is packed!!!!
And I still can't wait til SEPTEMBER!

Amy's an idiot.

Dear "Befuddled",

Ask yourself this question.

When she's 60 years old, will you look back on the years of nagging and missed hunting opportunities and feel no substantial regrets?

If not, dump the chiclet.

Jim

Tell her you will sure miss her.
Then say goodbye.

Sunrise

Plain and simple if the 2 of you are not compatitable the both of you need to go your own seprate ways. good luck to the both of you. One just go away and shop and the other go hunting and have fun(good luck).

matt

just think of all the money you can spend on huntin' gear instead of flowers and shoes after you dump her

Morgan

"Well I love her
but I love to fish
I spend all day out on this lake
and Hell is all I catch
well today she met me at the door
said I would have to choose
if I hit that fishin hole today
she'd be packing all her things and she'd
be gone by noon....
Well I'm gonna miss her"

Brad Paisley got it right. I know I would never let a woman get in between my hunting or fishing.

outdoor girl

Yes, Brad does say it best. So I got rid of him when he wouldn't go fishing with me!!!! Works both ways boys.
