Pink Guns Flying Off The Shelves
From The Lubbock Avalanche-Journal:
Two months after opening its Lubbock store, Gander Mountain is having a hard time keeping the pink 9 mm Taurus pistol on the shelves. . . .
"There are a lot of women who don't get into shooting sports because they don't want to be perceived as being unfeminine," [director of Texas’ Becoming an Outdoors Woman program] Ashley Mathews said. "If it helps young women or girls eliminate their hesitation to get involved in shooting sports, then that's a wonderful thing."
What to you think?
How embarrassing for a would be rapist or robber to be shot down with a pink gun!!LOL

I work at a Dick's in Indiana, we have had the Rossi Youth Combo in pink for months, and are yet to sell one.
Maybe it is just midwest sensability winning out...

I WOULD NEVER BUY A GUN THAT IS PINK, RED, ORANGE, OR ANY OTHER COLOR THAN GOOD OLD WOOD, SYNTHETIC, STAINLESS STEEL, AND BLUED! But maybe for a lady friend as a gift. ;)

That's one ugly shade of pink... No woman I know would want one. My wife likes silver and black, not pink. I know some "Jones Pond boys" that might want one...

Would any of you really want to be seen as the kind of unimaginative lunkhead who came home with one of these? i know I'd be laughed out of the house, and rightly so.

I am getting married to a city girl a week from Saturday. If I thought a pink gun would help get her interested in shooting I woud not hesitate to buy it.

PB, that is an ugly shade of pink, but as david said, if it will get a woman interested in shooting sports, i'd buy it for her

I don't care the color of the gun as long as I can defend myself. The color doesn't protect you, it's the power behind the punch(Bullet) that will hurt and or kill. If the color mattered I wouldn't have one at all. think about that (women/men).

there is nothing wrong with pink guns untill people start saying "real men shoot pink".then they need to be shot.

Wellll I am all for getting more people involved in shooting sports. I worry about kids finding something attractive due to color and wanting to play with it.. but then I overthink things sometimes.
I have seen some Green Marbled Shotguns that were made like a Bowling Ball as far as finish.. Maybe we need to do more of that to get people interested.
Worth a Try if the Libs dont FREAK.

I have been shooting a Hammerli in 22 cal. that is part purple-pink in color for ten years and have never heard a derogatory remark. I love it and there isn't many better than a Hammerli for competition. Color doesn't make the shooter. It just looks nice.

Although I personally don't like the color I do like the idea of gun companies thinking outside of the box. I enjoy the thought of gun manufacturers doing something different and going out on a limb with new ideas. As long as a gun manufacturer is willing to stick it's neck out other companies will follow suit and then we might see some really innovative gun designs!

Whatever floats your boat: if you want to shoot a pink gun I'm not going to raise objections, but I personally wouldn't get caught dead with one.

I bought my wife the pink taurus from gander mountain. It was the exact shade of pink some women like. She was very happy as it matches her mini-14 and sig 228 that we had done in pink. My daughters 10/22 is hot pink with glitter, wal mart- woood stock, sanded, krylon, glitter, clear coat. It is amazing to watch the tough guys at the range when the two bring out their pink gear and guns and actually know how to use them. Hearts and minds - it opens door to new shooters and I can spend time with the family while doing something I enjoy. DOL
