Discussion Topic: Is This Bird-Loving Cat Killer Cruel?

From The New York Times:

Jurors heard opening arguments on Tuesday in the trial of a bird-watching enthusiast who fatally shot a cat that he said was stalking endangered shorebirds.

The defendant, James M. Stevenson, is the founder of the Galveston Ornithological Society and leads bird-watching tours on this Gulf Coast island 60 miles southeast of Houston. If convicted on animal cruelty charges in the shooting last November, he faces up to two years in jail and a $10,000 fine.

Check out the full story and tell us what you think? Are Stevenson’s actions justified or not?

Oh my God William - were you actually sober when you made your comparison regarding abortion and football? Are you serious? It's childish responses like that one that just proves you have no idea what you're talking about and should definitely not have an opinion! Dee Dee Dee!

Yes, everyone is entitled to their opinion and my opinion is....until you can get pregnant, shut up!

freaks who say that babys deserve to die and a cat deserves to live make me sick! as far as the birder shooting the cat it is a non issue it was on his property he protected a member of an endangered species and removed a foreign threat like a doctor would a tumor

If killing cats is illegal -- I'm in trouble. I'm a veterinarian and have killed my fair share -- some intentional & others not.

I found William's comment infinitely more intelligent than the childish reply back from Tnugt which degenerated into nothing more than name calling. This issue shouldn't even be on a hunter forum. People don't even seem to care about logical points being made and rather blather on unless we're talking about hunting or fishing. Enough already!
