You Tube Video Uncovers Dumbest Poachers Ever
This link comes from reader Joseph Ballmer, who writes: “Here’s this week's nominee for ‘Dumbest Poachers Ever.’ Not only did they poach, they filmed themselves poaching, AND posted it on the internet.”
From the Toledo Blade:
Two men have been convicted for poaching steelhead trout after they decided to post a video of their illegal activities on the popular YouTube Web site.
Thanks, Joseph.
Yea, looks like someone forgot to pay his brain bill.

I'll bet that was an expensive trout dinner! Serves them right for being such dumb asses.

this may sound dumb but what was it that was illegal about what they were doing? Out of season? using a net? anyways glad they got caught

Did anyone else notice no sound?
But since a poacher lives that close to a river and poaches, he could be forcibly relocated by a court order.

Jon - Using a net was the problem. Also notice the wine tasting prior to their little poaching expedition. Pretty much says it all - alcohol was involved. Morons. These guys give wine and Ohio a bad name.

They were caught and fined $500 each I believe. The video surfaced a few months ago and outraged many fisherman in Ohio and Pennsylvania -- so much so that individuals went to extremes to see that these guys were caught.

wow. these dumbasses are prime examples of people that give the beautiful sport of fishing a bad name. i hope the judge takes all of their gear, auctions it off, and relocate those idiots for a place to live. im embarrassed for them for their immaturity!!!!

who cares if they were having wine while they hunt i cant remember the last time i went fishing with out a few beers.... not geting tankeee just a few

Excuse me if I offend someone, but I just don´t get what this people did wrong. If it is the use of the net, it is the kind that all fishermen use to retrieve fish, not a drag net or a commercial fishing net. And it was obvious that they didn´t even need it, they just could grab the trouts with their bare hands, as they did. As fun as flyfishing can be, I would have felt stupid doing it if I could just kick the fish out of the water, if what I want is just to get me a trout for dinner. Providing they have a license and don´t get over their limit, but I can´t know that by the video. About the cup of wine, I din´t see a knife or a boat anywhere.
