Outdoorsmen Spend Big Bucks
Check out this press release from the National Wild Turkey Federation, detailing just how powerful an economic force the nation’s outdoorsmen are. Our spending, for example, is greater than the revenues of Microsoft, Google, eBay and Yahoo–combined. If we were a company, we’d be in the top 20 of the Fortune 500 list by this comparison.
New Jersey needs to read this.

The problem at this point, Greg, is not that they wouldn't read it. They would probably devour it with gusto!
Instead of seeing the amount of revenue generated by a large portion of our population, they would see how many wild animals are "slaughtered" by blood thirsty, gun-toting maniacs.
Instead of seeing facts generated by research, they see a farce created by bias.
No doubt, they are familiar with bias, their entire stand is based on bias and bias only. No facts!! None!!
Sure, send it to them, but be careful, just remember, "If you wrestle with a pig, you'll both get dirty, BUT the pig enjoys it!

Hey Greg,
Where'd everybody go?
This is the epitomy of the evidence that NJ needs to see!
I suppose the title put them off!

The Kooks can see the facts right in front of their faces an manipulate the data to their agenda. How do we combat that?
Posted by: Greg | September 29, 2007 at 11:36 AM
With overwhelming facts only!
Data and/or statistics are "numbers" that can be "manipulated" to give a "chosen" outcome.
FACTS, my man, FACTS!!!
Not only that, until they wake up and start using their brains instead of their emotions, they WON'T believe what you tell them!
Brains work, emotions get your fanny in a crack! Ask your military leaders if they would prefer an emotional soldier or one that keeps his head and performs his duties!
It's okay to be emotional, just not in the heat of battle.
Long ago I read a farce which explained a competition between an American tractor and an equivilent, Communist, manufactured model. The out come was stated.... ".... the American machine finished next to last while the Communist machine finished second!!" You figure it out!!

Hi All,
It sounds like a tie to me.
Bubba you are right the facts will set you free. The problem is that when dealing with politicians they only see what their adgenda will do and not yours.
It is a sad comentary that we put these yahoo's into office and suddenly they become tree hugging, vege eating, political action committee pander's.
They will go to where ever the money is. Once this happens vote the bas!!&@$ out of office and forget about party lines.
Times have changed and we have to change our thinking as well.

That is the biggest reason I am an independent. Party lines mean nothing to me. still I seem to lean heavily towards rep.Paul, good points. Gives us all for some ruminations.

At one time, I pretty much had the same mindset, "Damn the torpedoes, full speed to best man for the job!!!"
I could never find a "best" man. They would never fit my "best" profile, regardless of party. That's when I started looking at Parties instead of people.
Are you guys wrong as Ind's? Hell, I don't know! I just know what works for me, and that is an ideal, "Smaller gov, less taxes, pro gun, anti-abortion"
All about me are Dems. For the most part, they are mostly hard working individuals, but a huge percentage of them are on the Gov't tit for one sort of farm program or the other. One I know, pretty well, was getting over five grand annually in gov't handouts off 240 acres! What were the one's getting that held a thousand (+/-) or so acres?! And that's in addition to what they get from their harvests!
THEY ARE ALL HARD-SHELL DEMOCRATS!!! Because the Republicans bust out most of the farm programs, they "ain't" about to vote GOP! The GOP hasn't killed all the farm programs, and won't kill them all, in fact, under the Dem programs, you HAD to plant ____ (fill in blank)!
Dubya passed a "freedom to farm" act that allowed planting anything or nothing! You still get the allotment, but it's less money!
Here you have "....tax you more and this is what you "have" to do to get it back." as opposed to "...pay less taxes, do what you want and I'll still give you some!"
We can sit here and argue politics all day long and all will never agree! But as far as I'm concerned, the GOP "ideal" is far more preferable to what the Dems offer!!
Good luck to us all, whoever is elected!
Bubba
P.S. "Opinions are like a--holes, we all have them and they all stink!"

I understand that outdoorsmen spend big bucks. I am reminded of this everytime I get my credit card statement in the mail.
