New Jersey Police Shoot Problem Bear
Thanks to Gov. John Corzine, the only people who will be shooting bears in New Jersey this year will be police and wildlife officers. And their “season” has begun. In Bloomingdale, Police shot a small bear dead on Sunday after receiving a report that it had attacked a dog, reports The Record. In a separate incident, officers shooed a large bear from underneath a deck.

Bloomingdale, Police shot a small bear dead on Sunday after receiving a report that it had attacked a dog.
As a former Alaska resident and hunter in that state.
I’m scratching my head over this one.
I think it’s was the other way around.
The dog swooped up barking and the bear naturally responded
The best way to go berry picking is to have noisy kids along and a barking dog. They scare the bears away.
If you surprise a bear?
Beware!
Notice the next time your watching a show of a bear attack on a cameraman. First they get to close (big mistake), then the shutter goes off (fatal mistake) and here comes the bear.
Bears clack their teeth when challenging another bear or when threatened, this is how they give there final warning. That shutter going off is just the same signal as a bear clacking their teeth.
Many bears have gone to bear heaven because someone misinterpreted its false charge, and there are many men who have been chewed on by bears because they assumed the bear was only bluffing.
