Breaking News: 11-Year-Old Bags Hogzilla-Plus
Under the title, "Bigger Than Hogzilla," monsterpig.com reports that 11-year-old Jamison Stone killed a 1,051-pound feral hog just outside of Anniston, Alabama on May 3rd. "The pig was over 10' 7" long and took 3 hours to kill using a Smith & Wesson customized .50 caliber revolver shooting 350 grain bullets," according to the site. "Approximately 16 shots hit this massive beast, some leaving fist size holes and the monster hog continued to run for approximately a mile."
The post concludes noting that Jamison received congratulations from Rickey Medlocke of Lynard Skynard, and with the promise: "More Pictures and Video Coming Soon - Hog is being mounted - Many witnesses - Sausage available!"
If you know anything more about this enormous-porker report, let us know below.
Thought you yanks valued ethical hunting. Not the quickest, most humane way to go for the porker.

he probably didnt ralize just how big and mean it was when he first tackled it, im surprised that it didnt take more shots to put that bruiser down. nice hog and nice to see such a young hunter with such a nice trophy
Posted by: ns | May 16, 2007 at 09:37 PM
This is ridiculous. People are feeding these domestic hogs out and killing them and all of you are acting like it is a trophy. This is the same people who fight over if a wild animal killed with a crossbow or a bow with too much let off is a trophy. But when someone comes along with a big pig it is an instant trophy. I grew up on a hog farm in Alabama, I have seen wild and domestic hogs, hogs don’t get that big in the wild. Bottom line. I am not taking away from the kids kill, but it is not a “wild” hog. Sorry.

To Pete in New Zealand: I can see your point. I myself can't stand to hear about unethical game-kills; it's uncouth to cause the animal prolonged agony and it gives legit U.S. hunters a bad name. Likely what happened is that since this was an 11 year old kid weilding that ENORMOUS revolver didn't mix too well & his shots weren't that well placed. --Also, Lamar is probably right. Feral hogs are considered a nuisance animal and several states including mine (Arkansas) have had to enact laws making it a crime to raise them then release them in the wild for "hunting".

The picture is doctored. Either that kid is 3 feet tall and weighs 45lbs, or the picture is doctored. I have bulls in my pasture that wont make a boy look that little. Its a shame that this kids dad is excited about him killing a penned hog.

To Pete the Kiwi,
Most of us yanks do value ethical hunting, as I'm sure most Kiwis do too. So how about we not judge a nation of hunters based on one 11 year old kid who was hunting with a firearem that was too big for him?
Posted by: Matt | May 17, 2007 at 11:51 AM
Whoa. I just looked at the photo. Trevor is right, that has got to be a doctored photo. That's not a pig, it's a dinosaur. No way that's a naturally-occuring hog. That, or the kid is 2 feet tall. No joke, "Hog-Zilla"...that can't be real.
Posted by: Lone | May 17, 2007 at 12:36 PM
The pics don't look doctored, the photographer just had the boy well behind the pig and stopped the lens down. Neat trick, I use it to make deer racks and fish look bigger.
Also, that isn't a wild boar by any stretch. Feral, maybe. Look at the slope of the face from ears to snout. There's a bunch of domesticated pig in there.
Posted by: Bubby Douglas | May 18, 2007 at 12:23 PM
i say its a fake
look at the picture where the pig is being picked up by the tractor
its not an 11 foot long pig.
stupid people trying to get media attention.

Whats the big deal about wild feral pigs anyhow? This just sounds like another bubba induced wet huntin dream. Yeah, my boy thar took mai S&W 500 and shot that thar hog 16 times b-for that durned thing daied.Man you shud ugh seen it,that gun knocked my boy back six foot evry time he touched off the trigger.Man that was sumthin to see! Yuck Har Har Yuck.Makes ya proud ta be american huh boy?

The Kid and his Dad went hunting in their polo shirts and khaki shorts? I guess it was a gentelmens hunt. Release the PIG! We have big hogs in Florida and I've never seen them get over 500lbs.

A) Someone had a lot of fun with Photoshop.
B) An 11-yr-old shooting 16 shots out of a 50 cal Smith?
C) I don't see any "baseball-sized chunks" ripped out by the shots from said 50 cal Smith. The only hole I can even see is right in the middle of the gut. Maybe that's why it took an hour to die?
D) Feral pigs don't get that big. That pig may have "escaped" from a farm, but probably only recently.
I'd love to put a big header over the whole site reading "WE'RE NOT ALL LIKE THESE IDIOTS."
Someone out there actually believes the whole story and now thinks we're American Sportsmen are all like these goobers.

Um..WHy is an 11 year old sporting a handgun in the woods ? Why would any parent period take their kids hunting for an animal ? hunting is the biggest joke in this country. I was exposed to hunting when i was young and grew out of it. It is not a sport. It is a joke. Killing an animal with your high powered weapon is one of the most disgusting things a human being could ever do. To act as if it is a trophy makes me sick to my tummy.

Ya the kid has been hunting since he was very little, that is great, but,,,,A 50cal drainpipe of a pistol? All of the photos do look like" perspective shots.
all shots are taken with the pig in the foreground and people behind. you can't tell how far the kid is behind the pig in the main shot. I can make it look like I am holdong the Sears tower in my hand if the camera is in the right place. the original "hogzilla" was a hoax and well........

nothing wrong with hunting, as long as the food is eaten.
Sorry if some of the Veggies out there don't get it.

More info for ya's too!!
Just outside Anniston, Alabama on Thursday May 3, 2007, an 11 year old boy kills 1,051 lb. wild Feral hog. The pig was over 10' 7" long and took 3 hours to kill using a Smith & Wesson customized .50 caliber revolver shooting 350 grain bullets. Approximately 16 shots hit this massive beast, some leaving fist size holes and the monster hog continued to run for approximately a mile. The 11 year old boy is Jamison Stone, his father is Michael Stone.

First of all, the fact that its a "feral" hog only means that its roaming wild. The South is full of these big Russian or European boars that have lived in the woods for years. There is no way this is a penned hog because a boar this big with those tusks would demolish fences. Some of these comments are absolutely stupid. You would dismiss this so quickly because of the shirt the kid is wearing? And clearly, anyone who thinks this pig would be edible is not qualified to comment. The meat from this pig would stink so bad you could never stand to cook it. If you've ever been to Alabama, EVERYBODY totes a big gun, they hand 'em out at birth. There's nothing sensational about the story except the size of the hog.

The mentally handicapped foster parenting the mentally handicapped? Is that legal?
Also, I guess some of these so-called men have never been around a slaughterhouse much. Here's a web site for carnivore and JP---peta.com

Wildbill: Y'all better tell Jamison about the reeking feral hog meat quick, according to the news stories and their web site, they were making SAUSAGE with it.
hear hear billy bob good on ya!!!

You spelled Lynyrd Skynyrd wrong.

Maybe if he had stalked it for weeks and then killed it with his bare hands, I'd feel slightly impressed, but any moron can shoot something that big.

I have just posted a report on our media ethics blog that debunks the monster pig photos as a hoax.
"What's going on here in the six dramatic MonsterPig.com photographs? Stinky Journalism sought retired NYU physicist, Richard Brandt's analysis as press reports cited no scientific opinions about the photos, which locals and hunters alike found suspicious. Stinky Journalism exclusively puts the photos to the test, with resident photography trick expert, and Art Science Research Laboratory, Director, Rhonda Roland Shearer's special report.
"EXCLUSIVE STORY HIGHLIGHTS:
* NBC Today Show cancels segment on Monster Pig; after flying boy and father to NYC; instead of disclosing their role and the hogs to the public.
* AP photo fails stink test according to retired NYU physicist, Richard Brandt.
* Scientific Measurements: prove that if the boy is 5 foot 5 inches as cited, the pig would measure a colossal 15 feet-not the 9 feet, 4 inches that is asserted.
* Brandt's report further states, the boy would measure a puny 3'9.5" instead of his robust 5 feet 5 inches, if the beast's was 9 feet 4 inches as claimed."

The Scientific results from an analysis we hired as part of an investigation, clearly indicates the Monster Hog photos are a hoax.
Please see what you think and read our report for yourself. It's found on www.StinkyJournalism.org.

Its all perspective. If you go to the website for the preserve (lost creek plantation hunting preserve) where the kid killed it, the real pic is there with him right on the pig and you can see the real size of the pig is at least 1/3 less. This is the official pic from the preserve. They took the massive pig pic by having the kid move back and pretend like he is leaning on it. All pic tricks.
