Rude Awakening: Black bear takes a swipe at sleeping camper

Early last Saturday morning, an unidentified female camper felt a tug on her sleeping bag and wound up in the hospital. “It wasn’t that the bear attacked her,” said Randy Hampton, spokesman for the Colorado Division of Wildlife. “The bear came into her tent, and when she surprised him, he took a swipe at her.” Surely, when the puncture wounds on the injured woman’s thigh heal, she’ll be a little surprised but relieved to find that she wasn’t “attacked.”
