Lab Leaves Boater Stranded: Man’s best friend nearly drowns him

When a large wave hit his 32-foot Albamarle sport fisherman, Brian Wallschlaeger of New Smyrna Beach, FL, must not have seen his Labrador retriever sliding across the deck until the dog hit him. Next thing he knew, he was treading water 10 miles off shore. Twenty-four hours later, Wallschlaeger swam onto Cape Canaveral Air Force Station in Brevard County and was airlifted to a medical center where he’s in good condition.  Unfortunately, the lab was not so lucky.
