Some Political Notes

Does anyone remember Martha Mitchell? She was the wife of John Mitchell, who was Attorney General under Richard Nixon and went to prison for his involvement in Watergate. As the coverup started to unravel, Martha would get a few drinks in her and start calling newspapers with all sorts of interesting stuff about who was lying about what, and it got so bad that her husband allegedly had her sedated and kept prisoner in a motel room.
Bill Clinton seems to be rapidly going out of control, and if Hillary becomes the nominee for Vice President,  we may see Secret Service agents tailing him with a hypodermic needle. What worked on Martha Mitchell may also quiet down Bubba. It's worth a try; nothing else has succeeded so far.

In 1992, Clinton's opponent for president was George H.W. Bush, who was viewed by a considerable number of gun supporters as too moderate, and they withheld their votes. This contributed to eight years of Clintons in the White House. John McCain has his weak spots as far as the Second Amendment is concerned, but he is infinitely better than Obama.

Now that Hillary has morphed into Annie Oakley it might be helpful to see what she thought before she became the Shooter's Best Pal:

"I will work to reinstate the assault weapons ban….I will also work to make sure that police departments get access to federal information that will enable them to track illegal guns…." 4/16/08

"I believe that every new handgun sale or transfer should be registered in a national registry…." 6/2/00

"[after Columbine] Bill and I announced a proposal to raise the legal age of handgun ownership to 21, and limit purchases of handguns to one a month."  11/1/03

And from Barack Obama:

"…I believe that the Constitution confers an individual right to bear arms. But just because you have an individual right does not mean that the state or local government can't constrain the exercise of that right…" 4/16/08

"I think it is a scandal that this president [Bush] did not authorize a renewal of the assault weapons bill." 10/21/04

Those who would give up liberty for security deserve neither.

I remember reading years ago the following: "A government big enough to give you everything you want is big enough to take everything you've got"
Do you trust any of these people who want to be president?

It's McCain gentlemen!
He was for amnesty, but after millions (?) of letters, e-mails and phone calls, he stated that he was wrong, and would not support amnesty but support a tighter border and enforcement of laws against hiring illegal workers.
He listens to the people. Isn't that what you all want?

james t

t. whelen
by being an obama supporter you are giving up both. if you want to push obama, fine. just don't try to dump your blind ignorant crap on the rest of us who have realistic worries about liberty and security. obama likes to look down on others and wants to make everyone a subject instead of an individual. he wants you to serve him and his U.S. hating wife. vote for him if you want. you probably don't even have a firearm.

If Mr. Obomba tells the wold that he will not even consider to use a nuclear weapon I don't want him as president. Don't get me wrong I don't nuclear war. But I want a president that has the stones to take us to brinkmanship if he has too. With the climate in the middle east if some one pops a nuke off on US soil I want a president that will find out who did it and then level some Pakistani mountains.

I will be voting for McCain in November not because I am crazy about any one thing he says, but because he is infinitely better than Obama.

Simple test. Who would the antigunners want us to vote for, if they could persuade us?

Who would Al-quaeda and Hamas prefer to have in office?

Whose box would Ahmenidjad have us ckeckmark this November?

Can you imagine Kim Jong II asking us to vote for McCain?

How about radical leftists of any stripe? Who would they like to see taking the Presidential oath this January?

When in doubt, look who you're standing in line with.

Oh, Mr. b;

If I knew then what I know now, I would STILL vote for W over Al Gore (look how he has conducted himself since 2000) or John Kerry. I absolutely think that neither of the men he beat would have done as well as W has. However clumsy he may be portrayed by the press, W has faced challenges (911, catastrophic hurricanes, energy prices going through the roof worldwide) that were unprecedented in their complexity (at least when the Japanese bombed Pearl Harbor, you knew who your enemy was and where to find him). Despite W's best efforts to tip the scales, I say the worst presidents the US has had since WWII were Clinton, Carter, and LBJ. So yeah, Mr. b, I'll advise you who to vote for.

And Scott;

A vote for Barr is a vote for Obama. By all means, vote for Barr, Scott; this is America and you have that right. But if Obama wins this by a million votes, and he does it bcause Barr pulled two million away from McCain, I only hope the thought that you voted RIGHT is enough to make you happy by the time B.O. Hussein is finished with this country.

Del in KS

You are right on and I would add Carter was the worst of the bunch and he continues to be a scumbag.

Laos - 65

I'm voting for the guy who has the stones to tell Israel to fight its own wars. After giving them 15 billion a year for decades, nuculer tech, the very best and latest planes, tanks and other arms, huge tax right-offs @ The World Bank and finally a truck load of neo-cons maskerading as American Patriots ----- enough is enough, I say, save us trillions and bury your own dead. ( this wont happen, but it should)

Eyeball, your right a third party canidate will throw a hamper into things, but its so needed. Are we the people so incompetent that its to mind boggling to have more than TWO parties, hell the elections in Iraq, the Iraqi people were able to vote for any of 100 parties. People vote because they want to be on the winning side. Obabma will win, I don't see anything happening differently, he's overwhemingly more popular (for NO reason at all) and a much better speaker, he's young, good lookin politician, the Dumb Masses (say that really fast) LOVE HIM for no other reason than he is a magnificent BS'er, the masses love rolling around in BS as much as pigs do! McCain gonna shoot himself in the foot, because the straight talk comes out kinda curvy some times, and people are goin to notice when he doesn't know the differnce between a Sunni and a Shitte and which group backs us and which is attacking. For those who are worried about the war on terror being lost, BHO said that he would not take a preemptive Nuclear Attack off the table when it comes to Iran, a country with a couple of bayliners afor a navy and NO standing army!!! The war in Iraq won't end on Obamas watch because he doesn't want the choas that will happen to be under his watch. The 2nd Amendment won't be ignored because of the Supreme Court rulings on the DC gun ban. So really there won't be any differnce between McCAin and Obama is what they might veto but if the Dems rule the Legislature than all Vetos can be over ridden with enough support, the Republicrats are between a rock and a hard place, because they left the Republican party behind, which is where most of us are still hanging out, wondering, what happened to the Republic?!

Anyone who has listened to what B. HUSSEIN Obama really says cannot vote for him for intellectual reasons, but just cuz he makes you FEEL GOOD.
He is for complete removal of your guns. He has said on many occasions he believes in the second amendment, for those that the GOVERNMENT approves to have guns. Guess what folks, that ain't us.
Just look at his long time friends, Ayer, Wright, & Rezko, who BTW he now decides after 20 plus years of friendship they are not the people he knew and cared for.

William Ayers admitted he built bombs for domestic terrorism, Do a search. B Hussein was following his lead when he got into politics. They were tight. Ayers is nothing but an urban terrorist who stated in his book, they didn't do enough with the bombings they did pull off.

Then there was Tony Rezko. B Hussein "didn't know him that well" (When jack Abramoff was indicted the media tried to portray any Republican who ever talked to him as corrupt but they don't say a word about Rezko after B Hussein's one denial)

And lest we forget Rev Jeremiah Wright that BHO could not separate himself from anymore than his grandmother. At least that was his story until he threw them both under the bus. BHO Quotes him in his book. If you read it it has no substance of what we wnt for America.
The media kinda forgot these things. BHO is the media's Messiah. If he doesn't wanna talk about they roll over and accept it. They wouldn't do that if he was a republican.
The only message BHO has is change. He will bring change all right. He has all the makings of being the last elected American president.
What will he do when Imadamnnutjob from the theocratic people's republic of Hell, I mean Iran, begins to do what he(Nut Job) has promised to do. He( Nut Job) wants to wipe all of our infidel butts off the map, The US and Israel both. BHO does not have the stones to stand up to FOX, how is he going to to say NO to a crazy tyrant, Talk with him? Worked real well for Neville Chamberlain.

No, if you want to vote for BHO, go ahead, just be aware America will never be the same again

I'm not voting for McCain, I'm voting against Obama.

Mike Reeder

I hate to admit it, but if Hillary had gotten the nomination I might have actually voted for her instead of McCain. That's from someone who spent every waking hour over a five year period at the RNC fighting the Clintons and almost everything they stand for. I flatly can't stand McCain, and my biggest concern about him becoming President is that he will defang the GOP as the only, occasionally useful vehicle for fending off collectivism and appeasement. Hillary on the other hand, while well left of center, is, like her husband, more of an opportunist than any committed ideologue, and would probably be a little safer on national security issues if for no other reason than inviting an attack or leaving chaos in Iraq would hurt her poll numbers. That's now moot, and despite my loathing for him in general, I will choke and gag and vote McCain, because Obama is not merely the most liberal member of the senate by voting record, but from everything I can tell about him a dangerous radical who can't seem to come up with a single friend or acquaintance who is not either a raving, leftwing lunatic or an actual terrorist. I don't know what else you can say about a candidate who works hand-in-glove with avowed socialists in Chicago to get elected to the state senate (you can check out archived stories on the DSA {socialist} website on that one), sups tea with terrorists like William Ayers and Bernadette Dohn, counts among his personal friends a mouthpiece for the PLO, and has won the endorsement of both Hamas and Fidel Castro. That's good enough for me. Throw in legislation he promoted in Illinois that would have shut down every single legal gunstore in the state and I'd vote for McCain if he were the devil incarnate -- and I'm not entirely convinced he's not.

Rocky Mtn Hunter

I thought this was a gun, hunting Blog. Some weeks back I mentioned Politics as was raked over the coals by many on this BLOG. What hapened to change your minds.Same people voicing their complaints now. As for Clinton, I will take her any day over Obama. Yes, he's a smooth Coon, not as smooth as he will be come Nov. HIs wife is a pure breed A.American. Were all the A. Americans born in the US from day one? NO. they were shipped here by the tribal chiefs in Africa who wanted to trade the misfits for Europene mdse. AS for Obama's wife, she hates the USA. The way Obama got in all the better Colleges was due to his color and colleges must have X# of Blacks to get Federal funds.He makes a good speech, because he says what people want to hear. He does not have the knowledge to be President of anything, other than maybe way down on the totum pole in Chicago. Say what you want about Hillary,she would be far better in the WH than the choices we got. Recall the past 7+ ys to the prevous 8 yrs, then ask your self, am I better off now than in l992? Only one answer a big NO I'm worse off, at least I am. All Politicians are about the same,say, do anything to get elected, as most are rich and the only thing left is POWER. Don;t worry about Hillary get the VP, as he will pick the Gov. of Alabama, whom he can control. He cannot control Hillary . I blame the Demo party for Obama getting the nod. The age groupe from l8 to 39 has been spoiled to death by their hard working parents or some social program and work and play with the blacks daily. So you better get use to saying Yessur Boss, whatever you say I will do what you tell me. Sue, Hillary will run in 2012, I hope to be here to see that, at 73,doubtful. McCain, blame the Reps for that, Huckabee should ahve gotten the job, not McCain.I appreciate the hardships McCAin went thru, but he is not Pres. material. Bush has left the USA in a Pile of S--- and I pity whom ever takes his place. You got 3 choices come Nov. McCain, Obama, or don;t vote, I will take the latter other than our local crap we got running. What has become of out Statesmen,whom we at one time look up to and respected.As for guns, I don;t think we got to worry about them, as too many other problems to occupy the elected Officials minds.I don;t understand why so many White Women voted for Obama. He did the same as John Edwards, E. Dole ( has she died) and Va.Fox and Burr did , courted N.C. got to Washington and begun running for Pres immediately. At one time I, l/2 way respected the Kennedys based on Pres.Kennedy,but after Ted and Carolina endorsed Obama, that respect went out the window. We best begin to look for a person to run for both parties in 2012, and start now and prepare that person for the WH. OK, enough about this royal mess, lets all get back to hunting and guns. At least we all know a Remington from a Winchester,Hopefully, and which end of the gun the bullet comes out of. Other than actual hunting with my guns, I enjoy reading hunting trips of other hunters. Just hope prices drop or at east stableize, especially gasoline and plane fares, so I can make another trip to the Rockies.I yet want a nice Mulie and a bigger Elk if one steps out. I always buy tags for both, just in case one of the other does step out for a good shot.Read lst night in a NAtional hunting Magazine,that we better find out wher our last Winchester ( model 70 and 94) werer made.If made in NH, better trade fast s they sorry piece of junk, as teh empolyees used ind=ferior material to clean house, as they knew the plant was clsing. Try to find out from the S# where your latest Winchester was Mfgered. The Blue Book of Gun Values may help.Ok, time to move out. Shoot straight and often. Forget what we can;t change,such as will take place in Nov.The old Gunslinger, who remembers the end of the deprssion years and the WW11 and now the last 7 yrs.Bring on the Horse and Buggy again, as gas continues to rise beyond reason. Maybe we all need to plant corn and make Ethonal or corn whiskey to buy gas.O, that sweet taste of Mash grain.

It was Thomas Jefferson who said, "A government big enough to give you everything you want is big enough to take everything you have." -- including all of your rights - the first step is to take away your right to own a firearm.

Townsend Whelen

Silvertip, your government is the biggest bureaucracy the world has ever known. Watch the Frontline special, read "Cobra II", "Fiasco", or "Hubris". The terrorist boogie man will end your 2nd amendment rights quicker than you can blink.

Rocky Mtn Hunter, did you call Obama a "coon"?

Col. T. Whelen

James T., I just had a .416 Hoffman built for a trip to Tanzania next year, yeah you're probably right, I don't know much about guns. Do you know what Writ of Habeus Corpus means? Look it up, and look up suspension of same my friend.

Ok guys click and read this by Thomas Sowell. A black man that is not voting for Obama. Has anyone looked into the possibility of cloning Ronald Reagan?

So much for the better angels of our nature. Abject apologies, Mr. Lincoln.

Between Mr. Reeder's amusing retreat to 50's-style propagandizing (I love the phrase "avowed socialists") to Rocky Mtn Hunter's essay that would have made pre-63 George Wallace tear up with pride, I can't say that I've ever seen such out-and-out horse poop in a public forum that wasn't sponsored by fringe elements.

I thought the US was the great experiment, the free market place of ideas; at least, that's what Chuck Colson told me. And Chuck should know. If avowed socialists get the majority of people to agree with them on an issue and it passes the ballot, so be it.

But adopting such an attitude would empty the coffers of the Right's Machine, which needs fear in large amounts to survive. Make out that check today, gentlemen! The Negroes and Commies are at the gate! They want your guns and your daughters! Remember the Alamo! Remember the Maine! Remember Pearl Harbor!

Been there. Seen it. It's all horsepoop.

Dr. Ralph

Well it had to happen. The first black presidential candidate that actually can win and only 143 years after Lincoln's "better angels" put a bullet in the back of his head... as a Yankee living in the south I have much experience with predjudice, all of it bad. Fortunately all I had to do was talk slower and less grammatically correct to fit in.

The problem with Obama as I see it is not his color but his character. He is rated 100% by the NARAL or pro-death errrr... I mean pro-choice lobby and 0% by the NRLC or pro-life lobby. He is a strong supporter of affirmative action which in and of itself is racist. Syrian realator Antoin Rezko is under federal indictment for favor trading and fraud and was one of Obama's first supporters and has given him over a million dollars. Factcheck.org rates him the most liberal man in the Senate. We don't even need to discuss his preacher who he just figured out was a nut case after twenty years. You won't hear any of this on the big three networks. Why? The Leftist Machine needs to lie and dumb down America to keep in power. That and all the money we earn to give away to those who refuse to work but love to vote for Dumbocrats...

By the way, about the only element more fringe than gun nuts are left wing gun nuts.

Mike Reeder,
Hillary is not done camplaining yet. She still have a $20,000,000.00 debt to pay off. Apparently camplaining is more expensive then she thought and is too dumb to bail out of a sinking ship when it is still afloat. She says that she is now supporting BHO but I don't belive it. I think she will find some way to publicly embarrass BHO and will steal the nomination from him. I think she still has a few tricks up her sleeves that have not see the light of day yet. She probably figured that she could not get enough delegates to win outright so she will try to bump him off and out of the ticket.
But that is just my personal opinion and I have no facts to back them up.

Figured the Obamessiah folks would scoff at my reference to his running for the state leg by forming an alliance with avowed socialists, which is why I indicated anyone with questions should check the Chicago DSA webpage (for all you post McCarthyites, that's the Chicago Democratic Socialists of America).
To be precise, in addition to running as a Democrat, Obama sought and won a spot on the ballot as a member of the "New Party," which is, ahem, ahem, avowedly socialist. Their platform, which Obama signed a contract agreeing to support, called for, among other things:

full employment;
a shorter work week;
a guaranteed minimum income for all adults and a universal “social wage”;
full public financing of elections with universal voter registration;
“the democratization of banking and financial systems”, which included public control and regulation of banking;
a more progressive tax system;
reductions in military spending and an end to unilateral military interventions.

The Chicago DSA had this to say about it at the time:

"NP's '96 Political Program has been enormously successful with 3 of 4 endorsed candidates winning electoral primaries. All four candidates attended the NP membership meeting on April 11th to express their gratitude. Barack Obama, victor in the 13th State Senate District, encouraged NPers to join in his task forces on Voter Education and Voter Registration."
