An Open Letter To Carolyn McCarthy

August 7, 2007
The Hon. Carolyn McCarthy
U.S. House of Representatives
Washington, DC 20515

Dear Representative McCarthy:

I am writing to you because in all of Congress, no one has taken a tougher stance on gun control, and I have become aware of a situation so out of control that only you can handle it.

It was announced today by the General Accounting Office and confirmed by the Pentagon that 110,000 AK-47 assault rifles and 80,000 pistols that were given by the Pentagon to Iraqi security forces cannot be accounted for. That's right: gone missing, and without doubt in the hands of people who are using them to kill American soldiers and Marines.

We are not talking about the United States, where you are trying to outlaw a comparatively small number of black rifles that are bought by recreational shooters and collectors and are never used in a crime. No, we are talking big numbers here, and we are talking real bad guys whose fondest hope is to kill Americans, and who do so on a regular basis.

If an FFL dealer lost a dozen AKs or a dozen handguns he would forfeit his license at the very least, and possibly face a major fine. But this is worse by an order of magnitudes. So I ask you, does the Pentagon simply skate on this one? Are you for gun control or not? Are you interested in saving American lives or not? Is someone going to be called to account or not?

Doubting that you will have a single word to say on the subject, I remain

Yours truly,
David E. Petzal

Mr. B, you know what the real problem is? We are both right and wrong! What we really need to do bulldozer Capital Hill into the Potomac River to start a new and uncorrupt Government. The bottom line, it’s not going to happen. we couldn’t do it if we had the bulldozer. All that red tape, all the environmental impact statements and bidding all that out to Union workers for start.

First of all, I don’t like Newt for what he has done in the past.
However, his current plan sounds like it’s worth checking out. Because of his knowledge of history and experience, I believe its worth listening to.

Newt said recently:
At this moment, it would appear that many Americans do not yet understand that Al Qaeda has studied the trajectory of WWII, and of the American Revolution (in which the world's largest superpower was taken down by a small ragtag army of colonials who engaged in unconventional warfare against the “unconquerable” British Army). Thus, Al Qaeda leaders understand perfectly how a small unconventional "army" can nip at the heels of a superpower until it falls down, if it fails to understand the nature of the war being waged against it and fails to respond with all necessary force. Although Gingrich did not specifically mention these troubling parallels in his speech last week, the message was clear.

You can find fault in everybody!

Clay Cooper

Ok Mr. b, you wanted proof of Democrats and this war, here it is!

December 19, 2006
Harry Reid: More Troops to Iraq!
Democrats Prepare to Fund Longer War
This last Sunday Harry Reid, the incoming Democratic majority leader in the US Senate, went on ABC's Sunday morning show and declared that a hike in U.S. troops in Iraq is okay with him.
Here's the evolution of the Democrats' war platform since November 7, 2006, the day the voters presented a clear mandate: "End the war! Get out of Iraq!" and took the U.S. Senate and the House of Representatives away from the Republicans.
So somewhat to their surprise the Democrats recaptured both the Senate and the House. Then they went to work--to obliterate the mandate. The first thing they did was reject Jack Murtha, the man who said "Quit Now" in 2005. They voted down Murtha as House majority leader and picked the pro-war Steny Hoyer.
Then Nancy Pelosi, chose Silvestre Reyes as House Intelligence Committee chairman. Reyes promptly told Newsweek, "We're not going to have stability in Iraq until we eliminate those militias, those private armies. We have to consider the need for additional troops to be in Iraq, to take out the militias and stabilize IraqI would say 20,000 to 30,000-for the specific purpose of making sure those militias are dismantled, working in concert with the Iraqi military
You can read the rest at

So Mr. B this doesn’t apply to you but the question is? Who’s the hypocrites here?

KEY word in Harry R's speech is more. The republican regime commited us to this war, then bumbled, mismanaged, misinformed, and underestimated the effort. I could not be more proud of the men and women fighting this war. But the fact is-their leadership has left them to twist in the wind. Much of the civil war went this way because of politics, and incompetence in top officers. Remember George McClellen? How about Burnside ar Fredricksburg? Old Abe squashed a ton of civil liberties too. Disagree with Him and you found yourself in jail! These days, you are not a "patriot"! George Bush rushed in-without a strategy-or enough men. Now we have lost shy of 4000-and our taste for revenge for 9/11 (of which the Iraqis played NO part). Yes Clay, I do agree that a thorough cleaning in Washington is past due-right after we vacate the middle east. We should concentrate on fixing our own domestic problems before we force change on others.....you can lead a horse....

Fact is Clay-we lost the moral high ground we took during WWII. We didn't "liberate" the German people from the Nazi party. We kicked their asses out of the countries they overran, then neutered the Nazis'. We kicked Saddam's army out of Kuwait, and neutered his army. This present war was an unprovoked attack. The world now views us as an invading horde.........Don't care what the world thinks?

History proves again and again that you ain't top dog forever.......

mr.b Your close, but there’s more to that and it runs decades ago. The reason we didn’t go ahead and take Sadam out was there was no individual or group to take over. There are basically three groups/states within Iraq. The bottom line is, until these three groups can get along the faster things will be under control. My choice would be, arm the Kurds to the teeth and tell them that they will make peace with Turkey, that’s not a choice for the Kurds and let them straighten things out with the next door neighbors! And give them all the iron (air support) support they need.

Clay Cooper

The truth of the mater, you will never have peace in the Middle East regardless what you do. There is only two ways to win a war. Either you blow them off the face of the earth or pound them down so far, they have to look up to see down and know if they do it again that will be there end. So Mr b, you can rant and rave, but until you take the head off the snake to destroy the body there is really no win solution here. The former Precedents had the shot and didn’t take it, from the Shaw of Iran to Sadam.

And why do you believe it is our duty to wage war in a region where there will never be peace? I am not the rantor--merely questioning the sanity of G. W. Bush, and the ventriloquists who are pulling the dummy's string.

have to take the head off the snake? why?

You keyboard warriors and heroes read “Losing Bin Laden” by Richard Miniter and then “The Foreigner’s Gift” by Fouad Ajami. When you guys eat your way through these two books I have another 20 for you to read. After all this, you just might have an inkling what has been going on the Islamic World for the last 1300-years to present and can give a knowledgeable comment...on the History Channel Blog

You sound as ignorant as the buffoons in D.C. presently, and that’s the trouble.

Gee Mr. Wizard, why do you take the head off a snake?

That is the location of the brain

Man your stupid!

Heres your sign!

"Man your stupid!"

David Ramirez

is that the real address of her DC office? if so let me know and O'll print out that lil letter and mail it to her office under my address too. maker her get enough of them to wake her ass up aye.

By the outrage that I am reading I would only hope that the majority of you support the NRA that support you.

Clay Cooper

110,000 AK-47 assault rifles and 80,000 pistols that were given and unaccounted? Why should I be surprised, when the FBI could not account for numerous 10mm that they received?

Exactly Clay! Hey at least this is keeping Americans at S&W and SigArms working! Gotta look at the bright side right!
Just to confirm that our politicians on both sides of the aisle know who butters their bread look at the recent back pedalling by the Obama camp on the war. Won't even rule out incursions into Pakistan. I'm betting the other viable candidates will be weighing in similarly. As always money talks and bs walks.
My challenge to McCarthy, Lautenberg et al still stands: Go into our large cities including DC, NYC, Newark NJ, Detroit, LA, Miami, New Orleans, etc and get ALL the stolen military, FBI and police weapons back from the gang-bangers then you may come for my few hunting and target shooting weapons!

Please understand that the US really does NOT want to get Bin Lauden. By keeping him contained but alive and not in custody we leave a single head of the chain of command vs a power struggle by a many headed 'Hydra' of mythologic proportions. Ostensibly the different branches and cells of that organization still march to the same drummer. A game of international terror 'Can you top this?' would be exceptionally hard to defend against.
Not to mention the many varied costs of actually bringing Bin Lauden to trial.

Clay Cooper

What really gets me is that a state or city will in act a antigun law, confiscate those guns and then auction those same guns to someone to resale them again. It’s all about money and to control of the honest citizen. If I lived in a state or town that would prevent me from owning and carrying a canceled weapon, I would file a class action lawsuit against them. What government office is responsible for your personnel safety? C’mon folks! What government office is responsible for your personnel safety?

Answer: there is not an office one!

Clay Cooper

110,000 AK-47 assault rifles and 80,000 pistols that were given and unaccounted?

I like to really know who it is and hold them accountable?

Stupid people on Capital Hill!

Got to have a proxy (person) to use their ATM card in a teller to get cash for them!

If I did this in the Military?

No MIRANDA RIGHTS and no trial!

I’d be shot on sight!

And another little factoid. Did you know when a person is being hired for a job and lets say they had 100 applicants, this is how they would pick that person. Say you had 100 applicants for the one job. Each person is assigned an experience level from one to hundred percent job ability and no applicant has the same experience level. You would think they would pick the person with 100 percent job capability right? Wrong! Dead WRONG! The national average for job hire is in the 60% job knowledge range so they don’t have to pay them much if any! Just like truck drivers, you would think that if a driver had 20 years experience with a perfect record would get paid more at hire and picked over a driver that has only one year experience, your wrong! They will pick a driver with little or no experience rather than the 20 year veteran The results? More accidents with total vehicle loss, loss of freight due to damage in transit, and late pick up or delivery time just for starters. I know this for a fact!

I am currently serving in Afghanistan on my second tour in three years. To say that if someone is young enough to have served in Desert Storm they can't possibly know anything about Vietnam shows how uninformed you are. There are Vietnam vets currently in my unit here in Afghanistan still proudly serving and wearing their combat patches earned during the 60's. I would say these guys have far more first hand knowledge of Vietnam than you do since you didn't join the Navy until 1973.

Well said Soldier!

Because some unk comes out of a mud hole, doesn’t make him a soldier.

Isn’t that right John Kerry

God Bless!
