My Favorite Prairie Dog Gun: The CZ 452

Cz_american The varmints and plains of Wyoming have taught me that I need a great gun. And after sending innumerable prairie dogs to that big den in the sky, I have found my favorite: the CZ 452 American in 17 HMR. It doesn’t have a thunderous report or any recoil, and it’s pretty cheap to shoot. The fit finish is excellent and the stock is a beautiful Turkish walnut. The gun shoots straight and the cartridge sings out to 200 yards. You will need to replace the trigger, which is a dog (no pun intended). The trigger replacement is unfortunately more complicated than most. I would recommend you send the gun to Timney or your local gunsmith.  With the upgraded Timney trigger (see yesterday’s post), this rifle is astounding. It sells for only $367 at www.impactguns.com/store/806703020709.html

It's funny that you posted a blog about this. Just the other day my friend and I were talking about .17 HMR rifles, and all he could boast about was CZ. I hadn't heard much about them, but he kept going on and on. Now that I have another hunter that highly reccomends this gun I will definetely be getting my hands on it. Thanks for the link also, $367 is pretty cheap!

Can you reccomend a good scope to put on this rifle? I will most likely be using this on varmints, and perhaps fall turkey hunting.

Peter,

Great entry, I could not agree with you more. The CZ is a fine shooter, and it does not blow a huge hole in your pocket.

Thanks again for the opportunity to do the reader's test. My offer still stands for Indiana Turkey.

Law Enforcement Tactical Gear

Thank you for sharing this information! I was looking into law enforcement tactical gear when I ran across your post! I never thought a gun like that would get these kinds of results!
