How to Get Free Gear: Tips on Becoming a F&S Tester

Because you are loyal visitors to my blog, I want to give you a few tips on how to get chosen to be a part of the Field & Stream Reader Test Panel. The Test Panel, for those of you who don’t know, consists of readers who have filled out applications and volunteered their services to test gear of our choice. Each month, we run the results of those tests in the Field Test section of Field & Stream. Your opinions are published in the magazine, your photo appears with the other members of that month’s Test Panel and …oh, almost forget…you get to keep all the gear that you tried out.

When you fill out the application, be honest.  I’m sure there are a few guys out there who do hunt and fish 275–plus days a year, but it’s a little suspicious that so many of you do.  You should also note that we often try to enlist a diverse group of testers with different skill levels.  Sometimes, we actually select someone with lower levels of experience.  Again, be honest.

Make the form legible; I can’t call you if I can’t read your phone number.  Put a cell phone and email address down if you have one, and make sure they’re correct.

And finally, don’t write a book, but please answer the questions as thoroughly as possible.  Remember the magazine doesn’t have much of a test if you don’t have much to say. To get free gear and make your opinions heard, hit this link and mail in the form. http://www.fieldandstream.com/fieldstream/gearingup/article/0,13199,1150815,00.html

As one of your 2 loyal blog visitors :) I just wanted you to know that you have my application (somewhere) and I look forward to actually having the chance to test some equipment and provide you with my results.

Peter I have a good friend who is a professional wildlife photographer and was wondering what steps he could take to get some of his pictures in the gallery.

I guess I am the other Loyalist thanks Ryan. I was a tester once before. I guess Ryan it is your turn. Maybe you will get some duck calls :)

Robert Muncie

I just received my first test product, trail cameras. I was honest on the app and was chosen more for my technical background then for my hunting experience. I am looking forward to putting those camera's to the test. Thanks F&S
