Kool Camo: Rappers and hunters find common ground

As a gear editor, it’s my job to be up on trends in the outdoor clothing industry, but while I was Lilwayne_hustler_medvid zipping through the cable channels recently, I realized I’ve been shirking my responsibilities. I happened to land on a music video by New Orleans rapper Lil Wayne of “Back That Azz Up” and “Ain’t That a B!%$h” fame.  In his latest video, “Hustler Musik,” Mr. Wayne is adorned in a heavily insulated 10-mile cloth orange camo jacket.

To me, this seems a curious choice of outerwear.  Maybe he was filming during deer season and wanted to be ready to hit the stand when the video wrapped.  Obviously he’s not on his way to Missouri, or one of the dozen other states where it’s illegal to wear camo orange during season. So why is he wearing it? See Mr. Wayne model his jacket at http://www.mp3.com/media_player/4291/4/viewer.php&rgroup=7758, and post your theories here.

Give Us a break.

Ted Nudgent he aint!
