While there were quite a few people who got half the question correct the first person to correctly answer the entire thing was "cwels". It was indeed Jamaica Bay, that is JFK in the background and we were fishing for stripers. The big fish move into the bays in the fall following bait fish as the water cools down.

This was last weekend and I of course got skunked. Perhaps that because I was stupidly and stubbornly throwing a fly rod as there were no huge blitzes... Deeter had me testing some rods, Damn him. Spinning gear was what you needed to reach the small schools of fish.
