Long Lost Fishing Footage

A couple of years ago I traveled the world shooting video for a flyfishing travel TV show that never aired. Go figure... We traveled to Argentina, Mongolia, Canada, Costa Rica, New Zealand, and Russia. Apparently my friend and other shooter on the show, Roy Tanami, dug up some of the footage and put together a simple video of some of our travels. Roy's got a book coming out in the fall. It's called Angling the Word, Ten Spectacular Adventures In Fly Fishing. He's pre-promoting the book via Youtube and other means, and this video brought back some great memories. I thought you all would love to see it. I think he even stole some of my photos for the section on New Zealand. You owe me Roy!

The book is being published by Lyons Press and is due out October, but you can pre-order through Amazon.com.

Enjoy the video, and be sure to check out our mini site www.bigmuddyroadtrip.com as I wander the middle of the country with Field and Stream editor, Nate Matthews, bass fishing our way down the length of the Mississippi river from north to south.

Add-on:

Roy Tanami is one of the best-traveled, and most talented shooters and writers ever to apply the lens and/or pen to this crazy realm of flyfishing. I still credit Roy with the best story intro I've ever read. This book will be a slam-dunk, and you need to check it out. -- Deeter

Damn, that's good stuff right there!

You just made my day! That was some great footage, classically captured, spun to great music...I loved it. Makes me feel like part of something bigger.

Thanks

M.T.E.

If only someone would let me be a "NET BOY" for the next excursion..I'm in Great vid&tunes!!!!

Roy Tanami

Romano says I owe him... well, as much as I hate to admit it, I guess I do. A quick thanks to both him and Deeter for throwing up my vid and for the kind words...

I haven't had the privilege of actually fishing with Deeter yet, but I'm truly lookin forward to the day. As for Timbo, as he says, we have bumped around all over this globe together... and again, while I hate to admit it, the boy can fish - and shoot (a camera that is). And yeah, I did steal a few of his killer shots for my book :)

BTW, that's him in the vid hoofin it downstream on the South Island trying to keep up with a hog brown. And yeah, he landed it...

Thanks again boys. And, thanks to all for the supportive comments - glad y'all enjoyed the vid.

I was gonna ask, "Who's that Moe in the boonie hat, hot-footin' his way after the fish (like a penguin with a hot herring in his cummerbund)?"

Shoulda figured it was my partner.

First guy to tell me who THAT (penguin) line was stolen from wins a Scientific Anglers Youth startup kit ... that's a rod, reel, and line. Consider this a hidden giveaway, just to see who's really paying attention to Fly Talk ... and who's tuned into what will be the best Christmas fly book/gift on the market this year.

KD-
That would be Bob Ufer the former university of michigan football announcer....(Go BUCKEYES)

KD

Dilemma.

You win, of course ( E-mail your address to [email protected]). But it churns my gut to pay out to a Buckeye. Should I send you my "Brokeback Tressel" T-shirt also?

Well, it's fitting that you get a YOUTH starter kit, no matter the age.

What can I say? We're beat again. Guess we're used to it now. Use that fly line to spell out a Script Ohio and send us the photo. Go Bucks. Cough ... sputter.

Randall

Deeter-
Just so you know, I won't hold your Wolverine allegiance against you so long as you keep up the good work on here. Just thought I'd show my colors in light of that spirited basketball debate on the other post....

KD

Deal. I'm beat. What else can I say? I give you props, man. Showed the question to my wife, whose great-grandfather was the captain of the "point-a-minute" team that won the first Rose Bowl (for Michigan) ... and she didn't get it! Big kudos for you, and the Buckeye nation ... by the way, I was on "Buckeye Sportsman" radio this weekend. I was, after all, born in Toledo. All I can say is people from Ohio can flat-out fish. And we're all on the same team when we hit the water! Thanks for paying attention. I'll send that right to 'ya.
