Discussion Topic: Who Would You Rather Share A Duck Blind With, McCain or Obama?

Few hunters are pining for a day in the woods with Barack Obama but a surprising number of sportsmen say they’ll vote for him — far more than backed Al Gore or pheasant-hunting John Kerry.
According to a Congressional Sportsmen’s Foundation poll to be released Wednesday, John McCain leads Obama by 45 percent to 31 percent. That’s only about half the 27-point edge respondents say they gave George W. Bush over Kerry four years ago and far short of the 65 percent gun owners gave to Bush over Gore's 15 percent in 2000. . . .
About half of those polled say they like McCain and would love to go on a hunt with him — compared to 29 percent who feel the same way about Obama.
“Sportsmen view John McCain as good company in the great outdoors,” said Steve Sanetti, president of the National Shooting Sports Foundation, which helped underwrite the survey. “They’re just not sure how much fun Barack Obama would be in a duck blind.”
Fishermen are a little more Obama friendly, but favor the Arizona senator by a 44-to-31 margin.
Who would you rather have in your duck blind or fishing boat? Who do you plan to vote for?
Either one could come with me, but I guarantee neither one would be coming back.

I'd love to see Obama in a duck blind.
Wouldn't need a gun, calls, decoys, nothin'
He'd just HOPE 'em down.
If that didn't work, we'd just CHANGE, and instantly be deer hunting. (Without having to crawl along the ground with our shotgun like John Kerry did)
Which of the 57 states do you think would be best for us to hunt in?

I just can't picture Obama in any sort of hunting situation -- unless he loses the election -- in which event he might cling to a shotgun out of bitterness, even if he can't figure out how to use it for its intended purpose.

Yikes.
So Blue Ox says only one would come back, what does that mean?. The 57 states comment is a blunder and you know it. If you are taking comments for face value then I am assuming BUSH is not welcome in a Duck blind either sence he has the IQ of a brick ( that gives bricks a bad name though so I'll go for a ROCK )or for that mater Cheny, who tends to FIRE in the wrong direction, I suppose if your dumb and cant shoot BUT you are a Republican thats ok. Why am I always supprised @ the "Hick" comments on this website?.

I would rathr spend time with John MCain. As a member of the military I'll bet he know how to handle a shotgun. I'm really concerned that Mr. Obama will end hunting and gun ownership as most Americans kown hunting and shooting. His record on guns and gun ownership is very poor.

I guess, Obama would have to rethink his guns and religion comment if he wanted to share a blind with any hunter. I do not consider my self a hick, I'm not that smart, but I can't understand why anyone would object to hicks following a thread on a Field and Stream web site.

I don't understand how ANY sportsmen could vote for Obama.
He's supported a total ban on handguns, a ban on right0to-carry permits, a ban on firearms kept in the house, and a ban on the sale of all semi-automatic firearms.

If the 57 states is a blunder I'd like to know why. Everyone learns in school there are 50 states. Even I did and I'm even HOME-SCHOOLED. If he didn't go to school is he even qualified to be in my Duck Blind. If he's not fit to be in a duck blind is he fit to be president?????The answer is ABSOLUTELY NOT.

Hell, I got enough of my own war stories. OBama could use the experience and the education, McCain I am afraid would be too much like taking Bush (who does not have the IQ of a brick - much less than that. Not all of us who hunt ( I hike in and Hunt, no ATV and think there should be MORE roadless areas ) and fish ( fly fish catch and realease, NOT bait ) do not vote republican as we think for oursleves and are not TOLD how to vote. There are people who realize that the idiotic notion that Obama is going to take away your guns is a more of a ploy from the NRA which would not exist without scaring people into thinking such BS. we know that the environment is more importnat than some looney notion that the "black guy with the funny name" is going to take a away our guns.

I hunt and fish with Like minded , educated and progressive sportsment, there are more out there than you think....Since the majority of "sportsmen" dont make it more than 1 mile from their ATV / CAMP / TRUCK I have no worries that I will run into you.....

Back to the original question, would enjoy spending a day with John McCain anywhere (even though he wasn't my first choice on the R side) and ....well, the other, not so much.

Hey Devin -
What about Obama's proposal to ban the sale or transfer of semiautomatic firearms and handguns isn't a clear and present danger to our Second Amendment rights? Just curious as to why you imagine he's on the right side of the firearms issue, given that he thinks people who own firearms are slightly nuts (hence the "bitterness" baloney), and given his past advocacy of totalitarian firearm restrictions.
