Rocky Mountain Wolf Migrates To New Mexico?
From the Jackson Hole Star-Tribune:
A possible gray wolf has been sighted on a ranch in northern New Mexico, raising the prospect that wolves may have migrated into the state from the Northern Rockies where they were reintroduced more than a decade ago.
There's been no confirmed gray wolf in the wild in New Mexico since a subspecies of the animal was exterminated from the state in the early and mid-1900s.
The animal was seen several times and photographed on Vermejo Park Ranch, which is owned by media mogul Ted Turner.
"We don't know what it is. It looks like a gray wolf . . . . Where did it come from? We don't know," Mike Phillips, executive director of the Turner Endangered Species Fund in Bozeman, Mont., said Monday in a telephone interview.

I bet Ted will love that when the wolves starting eating on his buffalo calves. His no hunting policies on his ranches and buying up land for inflated prices is going to bite him in the butt. No pun intended :)

Ted who? Ted Turner? His ranches don't have "no hunting" policies. Quite the opposite actually.

You can hunt them if you can afford them. Most of us regular Joe's can't and he has drove up a lot of land taxes here in the Nebraska sandhills.

I looked on his web page and had to "hunt" down the ranches that he did run hunting operations on. 13,000 for an elk hunt are you kidding me. If he really wanted to be an "Green Guy" he would donate this land to the Game and Parks or federal WMA's so it could be enjoyed by more then just the rich. Even if they had a lotto system to let a few of us "Local Yocals" on it would go a long way to smooth over hard feelings. I guess it all goes back to the golden rule. "He with the gold makes the rules"

Never new Ted was buying up land to actually make money. He ought to let veterans the disabled and Jane hunt for free. This is ruining the hunting in this country, having to pay to enjoy the outdoors and maybe help your family out by having deer meat to suplement their diets.
