Can Trash Catch Fish?

All this talk of carp and Kirk claiming he could catch one on a piece of trash had me doing some interesting Google searches this morning and I came across this old ad. I had to post it. I can't believe they used to legally be able to put this on T.V. Come to where the cancer is...

Can trash, catch fish if fashioned on a hook? I dare Kirk to try and catch a carp or any other fish for that matter on a piece of trash. Perhaps on this butt fly, but a piece of river trash...no way.

What you do think?

Real cigarettes make good baitfish imitations.

Having more than once seen guys drunk while catching fish at kid's only hatchery ponds I'm going to say yes. I don't know how well it would work if they were on the hook end of the deal however. I'd love to see it.

I bet I can catch a redfish on a candy wrapper. I will even let you tie the fly. I'll supply the candy wrapper.

Greg,

You're a smart ass. How about I eat the candy and you tie it on? Deal?

From wrote a story a few years ago about the Missouri Trout Parks:

"On Aug. 24, 1971, 7-year-old Robert Brownfield of St. Louis caught what was then the state-record rainbow trout. The 15 pound 6 ounce Lake Taneycomo fish must have been hungry. Brownfield's secret: "It was a mixture of lye soap, a French fry and a shredded napkin," said Randy Noyes, the department's fisheries editor, who found the record in his files."

Some fish will eat anything...
